Sweating at the Stag-O-Lee HQ!
posted July 30th, 2013Anxiously awaiting the arrival of the Grits'N Gravy 10“ and CD. Should come in any minute...
I have just finished stuffing the mailorder shop like a big, fat christmas turkey. Lotsa hot new releases at good prices and served with love and a few extras – like a free Boss Reggae mix CD with EVERY purchase. Go over to stagoleeshop.com - it is all decorated for you.
And I am currently going through my records to pack a nice box for the 10th of August. Looking forward to play some great music at the Grits'N Gravy record release party at the Sonic Ballroom in Cologne. I do not DJ that often anymore, so preparation is mandatory. Picked a few Captain Beefheart tunes already - always liked it when the kids dance to Sure Nuff`N Yes I Do and Zig Zag Wanderer. So much great music coming out lately that needs to get aired. The Sonic Ballroom is a great dingy club, pure rock & roll! Support by Mack Drietens, the Stag-O-Lee Allstars on the decks! Hope to see you there. And please forget about this big city bullshit of showing up at midnight - doors are open at 21 hours and that's when the party begins!!!!
A bit too early maybe...
posted July 12th, 2013...but I could not resist to post the cover of the first volume in the new Stag-O-Lee series MUSIC FROM PLANET EARTH - Featuring Martians, Rayguns, Flying Saucers And Other Space Junk.
Back in the late 1950s and into the early ‘60s everyone seemed to become obsessed with the possibility that science fiction might become science fact. Movie houses and drive-ins across America were fascinated by the idea of a Martian invasion, with a suitably theremin-powered eerie soundtrack, not to mention the prospect of the rise of unruly robots.
Music From Planet Earth will be a series consisting of three ten-inches in vintage casewrapped covers with a repro-print of a classic poster as bonus. Limited to 500 copies. Artwork by the amazing Marcel Bontempi! Scheduled for October!
See you next weekend: Sjock #38!
posted June 28th, 2013Next weekend around this time we will pack our vinyl and CDs and drive our trusty Ford Transit van to Gierle in Belgium to be part of the great Sjock festival again! Like last year we will set up our record stall (inna much better tent this time) and we hope to see you there.
Sjock comes highly recommended with a great and varied line-up and non-stop music – one band stops at the main outdoor stage, the next one starts in the great Titty Twister tent (and so on until you drop...). The festival ground is deep in the woods, there is lots of space and camping nearby. So lots of fun is guaranteed for all.
Highlights of this year's line-up: Dinosaur Jr., Los Straitjackets, Jim Jones Revue, Deke Dickerson, Black Lips, New Bomb Turks, Paul Ansells Number Nine, Smokestack Lightnin' and a bunch of others.
Check out the website for Sjock #38 here. The festival starts on Friday, but that is Psychobilly day... so it is up to you...
We herewith declare the STAGOLEESHOP officially open!
posted June 27th, 2013Well, it took us a while, but now the Stag-O-Lee label has it's own mailorder department – the Stagoleeshop! It is and will be a small shop, every release we offer is hand selected. We do not want to carry every single release that's coming out in these genres, we keep our eyes open for the not so obvious, but will also carry the obvious (if we like it). Only the good stuff!
The shop has a German and English language part – you can make your decision by selecting the flag on the top right hand corner of the shop website. And while you get aquainted feel free to open a second page and stream our first Soundcloud mix. There is more to come.
And while you are at it you can join us on facebook where from now we mix label- and mailorder news and join our e-mail newsletter (lower left hand on the website).
Do it and it will make you happy – guaranteed! Stagoleeshop - the ultimate in record shopping!
